Jill's Journey

Hopping her way towards a (hopefully) cancer free life three legs at a time

A get well project for Jill! Help us reach our goal!

Filed under: Uncategorized — rica55 at 3:33 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2013

I’ve been looking for a project to spice up Jill’s blog and MANY THANKS to my friends in the chat room for coming up with the following idea (I take absolutely no credit).

OK, so here is the mission!

Before Jill’s one-year ampuversary on 12/12/13 (god willing) I would like to have her receive a get well postcard from ALL FIFTY STATES (state themed postcards please) :)

I will post them all on her blog and then once we get them all make a map of them!  Jill’s Grandpaw and Grandmaw have GENEROUSLY agreed to donate $1 per postcard we receive ($1 a state, so please don’t send me 100 per state lol) to tripawds.com! *UPDATE* Jill’s Aunt Farrah (her human aunt, my human sister, not her Aunt Belle the puppy) has agreed to match Grandpaw and Grandmaw’s donation!  So that’s $2/postcard!!

So please help us and send her your best wishes for a speedy and easy recovery!

You can send the postcard to:

Jill Berse

New York, NY 10019

WE CAN DO IT!

WE CAN DO IT!

Do they have to be from the state I currently reside in? Or, on my way to visit in-laws in VA, can I also get her one from super seedy gas stops along I84 and I78?

So, it has to be a postcard? LOL, and what about SC? I adore cats. I adore black and white cats. I adore black ones too. Then, of course, I love the whites ones and calicos, well? I think you get the idea. She is worth it. If Jill is a male the same goes…Just saying!

My cat Isabella is now entering her fourth year after having a back leg amputated because of cancer. She’s doing great and sends best wishes to Jill and to Jill’s human family. We will also be sending a postcard.

This is a great idea. I hope that you collect lots of postcards (and lots of money). 🙂

Thank you for sharing Isabella’s story! What type of cancer did she have? Please go to tripawds.com and share her story for 3/3 national tripawds awareness day. We need more kitty stories!

Isabella had a rare type of cartilage cancer that first appeared on the side of her foot. Our vet tried to remove just the tumor, but it came back rather quickly, so the only other option was to amputate her leg. She was only five years old at the time. It took her several months to completely recover, but now she runs and jumps and uses her remaining back leg very inventively to propel her wherever she wants to go.

Hang in there, Jill. You’re going to be just fine!
